Art For Humanity (The Leadership Center, Honduras)
Details: Rare Teaching Opportunity available beginning in April of 2013. Enjoy the
beautiful climate and atmosphere of teaching and living on an organic coffee farm
high in the mountains where is it always springtime.
Also enjoy the fact that you are helping those in need. Students come from poor
families and study with full scholarships with all necessities provided including
medical.
This is a residential college in a very peaceful and safe location. Although only
two hours from the capital, the setting is extremely remote with no public
electricity or water. We generate electricity with solar and wind and have our own
water purification system. We grow much of our food organically. In addition to
gardens and fruit trees, we have horses as well as cows and chickens which
provide our cheese and eggs.
Although this is a college, because of the educational system in Honduras, most
classes are taught at a U.S. high school level. Our student teacher ratio is
normally about 5 to 1.
Room and board is on campus with all meals provided. We are vegetarian
friendly. In exchange for teaching, we provide room, meals, linens, toiletries and
sometimes shoes and clothing.
You may use your teaching materials or ours. Singles and couples are
welcomed. Non-smokers preferred.
On our web site, you can see the beautiful waterfalls, hiking trails and the very
friendly and safe community. The temperature is never very hot or cold. In the hot
months, the night temps are about 65 and in the cold months about 55.
