Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools
Details: Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools is a school network consisting of 17 secondary schools and one primary school in Kazakhstan, Central Asia. Our schools, which are located across Kazakhstan are state-funded, and entry is highly-competitive. Almost uniquely for international education, Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools (NIS) students are educated in a trilingual environment with lessons conducted in Kazakh, Russian and English.
Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools (NIS) are a part of a wider programme of educational reform, which includes the establishment of Nazarbayev University, the Centre for Educational Excellence and further initiatives focused on teacher training and development. Named after the president of the country, Nursultan Nazarbayev, the NIS schools intend to change the way education is delivered to gifted and talented secondary school-aged children. Besides teaching their subject, teachers involved in this project are also expected to mentor local Kazakh teachers and incorporate international best practice into the planning, teaching and assessment.
We offer excellent student-teacher ratios, purpose-built teaching environments and facilities, and well-resourced classrooms and libraries.
The academic year is 40 weeks with 36 weeks of instruction and four weeks of professional development and associated duties. The school year runs from 1st September to the beginning of June.
DUTIES:
Conducting classes in English in your area of specialisation.
Mentoring local teachers.
Preparing students for university entrance tests.
Organising cultural and social events for students.
Running co-curricular activities.
Participating in the life of the school.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates should possess a Bachelors degree or higher.
Candidates should possess a PGCE, PGDE or Bachelors of Education or an equivalent teaching qualification.
Candidates should have three years of recent experience teaching at secondary school level in a regular classroom environment.
Candidates should be a native or near-native English speaker with high levels of English proficiency, both written and oral.
Successful candidates will be expected to undergo a medical examination, criminal record checks and reference checks prior to their employment.
