Teaching english in Colombia

Details: Your role
We are looking for a teacher to start ASAP, Monday-Friday from 7:00 - 12:00 and from 3.30-9.30pm each day. Total of 40 hours per week which will be distributed in the schedule.
In addition, you will be asked to work Saturday mornings for up to 5 hours, between 7.30am-12:30pm. We will TRY to rotate teachers on Saturdays, so that you can have a free one. We have a contract with a high school which is walking distance, you will have to teach some days there (only mornings , two classes).
You will only speak English in class (teach English in English) so don’t worry if you don’t know any Spanish. Many teachers choose to learn some Spanish while they are here and we will help you practice if you are interested in learning.
The Academy
We have classes for students in-person and online. Classes are 1:1 or groups of up to 6 students. This unique class size means students have a lot of speaking time in class and teachers are able to give lots of feedback on speaking and pronunciation.
Most students attend classes 3 times per week and we don’t give them homework (which means you don’t need to do any marking or paperwork)! All teachers teach all students and groups, so that students are exposed to different ways of learning and different accents.
We have been open for 8 years and have contributed to the community being open to learning English. Being a small town, our classes are much more affordable for students who don’t earn as much as people living in larger cities.
We have WiFi and computers at the Academy and there is space to relax if you have a break between classes. Classes are recorded so that I can provide you feedback on lessons. You will also have the opportunity to observe other teachers when you are starting.
Training
I will provide training when you arrive in Tabio and give you all the materials you will need for classes. Training will be for [5] days and will not be paid. Training will need to be completed before you start teaching.

About Tabio
Tabio, Cundinamarca is a small town ~45 minutes drive from Bogota. Weather is cool all year round (8-20 degrees most days). It rains every day for a short time, mainly in the afternoon (so pack an umbrella!)
We are surrounded by mountains so it is a beautiful spot to go for walks or bike rides.
The cost of living is much lower than in larger cities. The Academy is within walking distance of most shops, restaurants and accommodation options.
Your accommodation
There are two accommodation options for teachers.
1. Private room and shared bathroom in local family’s home (370.000 COP) MONTHLY. Includes:
○ single bed
○ closet
○ desk
○ WiFi
○ shared kitchen
○ handwashing sink (there is a local laundry where you can drop clothes to be washed if you prefer).
2. [Hostel] Private room (620.000 COP) MONTHLY
○ Single bed.
○ Closet
○ Private bathroom
○ Wifi
○ Shared kitchen
○ Cleaning lady every day.
○ Social areas to chill.
