Job Description:
The International School seeks a passionate and effective educator to teach primary students (Language Arts - grades 5 & 6 + co-teaching Biology with a Polish teacher in grades 4-8). Our school emphasizes a collaborative approach to learning with a dual program for all students. Learners thrive with instruction in both Polish and English covering two curricula- the Polish and Canadian program. Our teachers work together to give instruction in Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Art in a collaborative environment at the elementary level.
This is a great opportunity for teachers who have been waiting for their first international contract or teachers who have always wanted to apply their skills in an exciting environment that allows unlimited exposure to history and culture. Our educational success consists of a well-thought program, cooperation between home and school, selection of materials and individualization of working methods with a specific class. We emphasize project-based learning and encourage interdisciplinary projects and plans.
Planning
• Planning collaboratively, based on agreed curriculum framework, standards, and instructional goals.
• Creating learning units with the student needs in mind.
• Accommodating and differentiating a range of ability levels.
• Planning the use of varied and appropriate resources.
• Creating project-based lessons and coordinating with Polish staff to implement school-wide learning days catered towards specific subjects and units.
Assessing
• Maintaining accurate records of marks.
• Using a range and balance of assessment strategies and documentation.
• Assessing levels of students’ understanding before embarking on new learning.
• Enabling students to see assessment as a means of describing their learning and involving students and colleagues in the assessment process.
• Making sure students fully understand how their grades are determined.
• Writing reports and maintaining records of regular parental contact.
