Middle School ELA Teacher

Details: Company Description: Our main campus is located in Ciudad San Cristobal, Finca Santa Barbara, on the outskirts of Guatemala City. CAS offers a unique learning environment rich with cultural diversity and academic excellence to prepare students to face their dreams. We provide quality instruction for students from nursery age to 12th grade with over 300 students currently enrolled. Students are educated in a Biblical basis with fundamental values that help them develop strong character and good judgment. This goal is accomplished through daily devotionals, and weekly chapel and Bible classes. Our intensive program provides students with daily instruction in English by native English speakers in the core subjects of Math, English Language Arts, Science and Social Studies.
Role Description: This is a full-time on-site role for a Middle School ELA Teacher at Christian American School of Guatemala located just outside of Guatemala City, in San Cristobal. The ideal candidate should have a passion for literature and language. Responsibilities would include teaching reading, writing, grammar, and critical thinking skills to highschool students. The teacher should be creative in lesson planning, able to engage students in discussions about various literary works, and help them improve their writing skills.
Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field
-Proven experience as a Teacher
-Excellent knowledge of appropriate instructional strategies for Middle School students
-Excellent knowledge of United States Learning Standards
-Demonstrated ability to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities
-Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with children, parents, and colleagues
-Ability to maintain a safe and healthy learning environment
-Native English Speaker
-Experience teaching in a Christian-based educational environment is a plus
-Certification or licensure in Education is a plus
-Experience with classroom technology is a plus
