English Language Teacher
The goal of this position as an English Language Teacher is to develop content, teach content, and assess the students’ learning according to the curriculum and goals set for the students. In addition to the teaching activities, the teacher will be expected to support the organization in creating content for social media and outreach activities for online classes.
This position also requires interaction with the organization’s partners.
Duties and responsibilities
● Plan, organize, and provide instruction in English that meets the standards determined by the organization.
● Provide instruction that is consistent and coordinated with the organization’s instructional program to ensure that students meet and exceed learning targets.
● Adapt and/or develop and deliver lesson plans that utilize a broad range of appropriate teaching techniques and strategies.
● Develop online content to support the learning of the content using platforms determined by the organization.
● Oversee assigned online out-of-classroom activities, communicate with students via the platform using chat/email or messages.
● Participate actively in planning and meetings to plan and create online and offline content. ● Provide a nurturing and supportive learning environment that encourages student responsibility and incorporates challenging instructional strategies.
● Administer academic and language assessments for the purpose of evaluating student progress for meeting academic learning targets and progress in language acquisition.
● Maintain complete and accurate records of student progress and evidence of growth and progress.
● Adapt curriculum to provide individual, small group, and/or remedial instruction to meet the needs of individual and subgroups of students.
● Employ a variety of instructional techniques and strategies to meet different aptitudes and interests of students.
● Participate in meetings off-site with partner organizations when possible.
● Support the organization in outreach activities for student recruitment for the classes, finding possible partner organizations or individuals interested in taking classes.
● Support the organization in the creation of content to be used on social media posts, gathering images and testimonials of students during classes.
Working conditions
The teaching hours will be completed online. Planning meetings and the development of online content will happen online. When possible, have in
person meetings with students and other members of the organization.
