Details: Are you an enthusiastic and adventurous secondary Humanities Teacher that speaks a little French and is now seeking a new teaching challenge in Africa ?
The Lycee Francais Blaise Pascal in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, is looking for a passionate qualified Humanities Teacher to teach History and Geography in the Franco-American International Sections of the Secondary school/high School (Lycee) starting September 2025.
This is a challenging yet rewarding experience for those who want an experience of living in West Africa and teaching in one of the top ranked French schools, with a renowned American International Section.
Successful candidates will speak and understand written French and have some experience of delivering ideally US or UK based curricula and teaching to children between ages 11 to 18 ( College and Lycee)/Grades 6 to 12.
In more detail, we are looking for:
Qualified American trained or schooled secondary school Humanities teachers to teach the American International Section pupils aged 11 to 18, from the 6eme to the Terminal levels.
Ideally relatively familiar or keen to familiarise themselves with the French education system.
Permanent full time basis from Sep 2025 with a competitive package and housing allowance contribution
French Lycee BLAISE PASCAL is a purpose built school and one of the oldest and most respected educational establishments in West -Africa, built in 1981 and recently totally remodernised. The school boasts exceptional facilities and an openminded leadership team in this vibrant West African city of Abidjan.
The school delivers the French Curriculum with an International American Section, catering to over 1600 pupils from 11-18 years of age. It is one of the largest French establishments within the AEFE network ( Agency for French Education Abroad)
Requirements:
-min 2 years teaching experience
-Notarized Bachelor’s Degree and/or teaching degree from American or anglophone University, ideally with some experience of teaching in the US
-Good written and verbal understanding of the French language
-Willingness to engage with all aspects of the French education program
-Notarized and clean criminal background check, valid within 6 months
-deep knowledge of American History and Geography curricula
-Ability to adapt in a highly dynamic evolving international school within a West African environment
Please note the school does not have the international accreditation to put NQT’s through their induction year at present.
ABIDJAN is considered a main hub in West Africa with record annual economic growth and is an interesting mix of French European and Middle Eastern influence.
