Middle/High School AP Computer Science Teacher

Position Overview:
CRIS is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Middle/High School AP Computer Science Teacher to join our forward-thinking team. The successful candidate will inspire and engage students in the fields of computer science, programming, and technology while also leading our VEX Robotics Competitions and AP Computer Science Program. This is a full-time position with opportunities to foster innovation and creativity in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Education, or a related field.
• Teaching certification or equivalent qualification for secondary education.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, and C++.
• Experience leading or participating in robotics competitions, particularly VEX
Robotics:
• Familiarity with the AP Computer Science curriculum and assessment standards.
• Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create an inclusive and
engaging learning environment.
• Proficient in using educational technology tools and platforms.
Major Job Responsibilities:
1. Plan and teach Computer Science courses to Middle and High School students,
including foundational programming, web development, and advanced
computer science topics.
2. Lead and oversee the AP Computer Science Program, ensuring students are prepared for AP examinations and college-level standards.
3. Serve as the head coach for the school’s VEX Robotics teams, managing all aspects of team preparation, competition participation, and skill development.
4. Foster a classroom environment that promotes curiosity, problem-solving, and
critical thinking through project-based learning and collaborative
activities.Provide constructive feedback to students, parents and administration
5.Stay updated with emerging technologies and integrate them into the
classroom to enhance student learning.
6. Organize and facilitate extracurricular opportunities related to computer
science, including coding clubs, hackathons, or school-wide technology
challenges.
7. Collaborate with other faculty members to integrate technology into interdisciplinary projects.
8. Meet all deadlines related to submission of documents, information, and
records
9. Incorporate regular assessment data to inform instructional decisions
10. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners
11. Work collaboratively with other educators
12. Actively communicate with parents and guardians regarding student
progress, achievements, and areas for improvement.
13. Report for and perform supervision duties as assigned
14. Sponsor, organize and supervise one extracurricular activity for one semester
15. Collaborate to plan, implement and chaperone school activities related to
classroom or activities
16. Attend all required scheduled meetings involving students, parents, faculty,
staff, and administration
17. Serve on at least one school-based committee as assigned
18. Travel with and supervise school-based field trips (day trips and/or overnight
trips) as assigned
19. Adhere to CRIS child protection policies
20. Understand Christian values and demonstrate positive character
21. Perform other duties as assigned
