BBIS is a fast-growing, fully accredited British international school in Baghdad. We are accredited by the Iraqi Ministry of Education and Pearson Edexcel (including exam-centre status), and we are now preparing for a major expansion.
We are seeking an experienced Academic Director with a strong background in establishing and leading British-curriculum international schools. This is a senior role for a leader who can shape academic strategy, mentor teachers, and ensure the highest standards of teaching and learning across the school.
The ideal candidate is someone who has successfully led academic teams, implemented curriculum frameworks, overseen assessments, and contributed to whole-school development. The role requires confidence, depth of experience, and the ability to guide a diverse faculty toward a unified academic vision.
Qualifications Required
• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a closely related field.
• PGCE, QTS, or an equivalent international teaching qualification.
• Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field (strongly preferred).
• Senior leadership certification such as NPQSL or NPQH (preferred).
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in international education, including:
– Leadership roles such as Academic Director, Head of Academics, Principal, or equivalent.
– Experience in establishing or developing new schools.
– Deep familiarity with the British curriculum and its assessment frameworks.
– Experience working with accreditation bodies, especially Pearson and governmental Ministries of Education.
