David and Laurette Mears [NZ] Watch for Shell Nigeria, sayin...

A few days into my search for an ESL position, I received an email from a gentleman stationed in Nigeria with his family who were from Southern Australia. The gentleman backed up all of his company information stating that he was employed from GEOMAXX, a multinational company in Johannesburg who is there to extract oil for foreign sale. This information checked out on Google. He then stated he could pay me $4,500 USD/month. That is awfully high. He answered all my questions and kept insisting how excited he was for me to come teach his children and wife English. I turned down the job stating that it was too risky for me to work in Nigeria at this time. Immediately after I started receiving emails from the "Nigerian Government" on how I am mandated to come teach in the country. I had to spam each and every one. The sad thing is that this man may have had a legitimate need for an ESL teacher, but looking at the political unrest of the country as well as recognizing that Nigeria is the number one hotspot for scams, doesn´t encourage me to believe that this particular situation was real.
