I taught in Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara from 1995-97. The pay was not very good but at the time the country was going through an economy crises. I think it is much better now. People are all very warm and they love Americans, or anyone with blond hair and blue eyes. However, some people hate them and you have to watch out. Students are happy to be your students and they study really hard. However because of the culture, I saw that most students were very relaxed and they all enjoy having fun or going to parties rather than study. So, you need to not be so strict in your classes, always smile and make a lot of jokes as you are teaching. Students will love you and will be looking forward to being in your classes. Good luck.

Ups, Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara is a private university in beautiful Guadalajara of Mexico. Fruit and vegetables are great, sea food is great, and most of the food is inexpensive. Rent is expensive around the universities. The weather is great. May is the hottest month and it rains with thunder stroms in the summer. Winter is not cold at all, and it never snows there.

Stay away from Laughing Coyote School of English in Tepic, Mexico. I worked there for 3 weeks. That was all I could take.
