are online tefl (etc) certs accepted equally to a tefl(etc) cert acquired the traditional schooling way, any recommendations on a good online school that are recognised? i have to weigh up my options, i can spend 2500€ on a sit in class, or 500€ online & 2K travelling while studying it.... what a decision.

Do the online tesol, $200 usd. search for it on excite or google.

sometimes you can run into problems with online certificates, it depends on where you are hoping to teach, some schools want you to have the sit in course with teaching practice. definitely look into as many online options as you can because some schools don´t give you all they say they will!!!

Go for CELTA, it´s by far the best and is the most widely recognised.

Don´t bother with an online course. I´ve seen hundreds of adverts that say CELTA is obligatory, and have seen a few that actually say something like "We do not recognise online qualifications".

Online TEFL/TESL are recognized in China and Vietnam. Google "jeff mohamed tefl", his website looks crappy; however, he is professional and does run a real program.
(ps) China is not for everyone...
