South Korea is a great place to work. The people, although not overtly friendly in the streets or in stores, are very kind once you are introduced. English teachers are always needed, and the pay is good. Just check out your employers, like everywhere. I taught at 4 different jobs there, and only my first was a bit of a scam. The man who was my contact and got me the job, took out half my paycheck each month without me or my employer knowing. The language barrier was the biggest problem in this respect. Lesson learned - attempt to learn the language before jumping into something like this. :) That or make good, reliable friends.

I spent 5 years teaching English in South Korea. You´ll typically be given a split shift 7am to 10 or 11am, then 6pm to 10pm. Pay is usually around 2 million Won/ about US 2,000 a month. The Koreans are often reserved with strangers, so it´s necessary to break the ice with them. For Korean men, beer is the key, for women, Starbucks is often a preferred option. I like teaching coastal China much more than Korea. Everything, pay, living accommodations....it is all open for discussion. No inland, too smoggy.

If you can find a good job and are open-minded to a very different culture, then you will be happy in Korea. However, many teachers here lack both of these and are extremely miserable.
