Hi, Im wondering, is it possible to teach English in South Korea without a Bacherlor´s degree? I have a TESOL Qualification, however all the job adverts specify that a degree is required.
Also, does anyone have advice on how best to find job vacancies in the UAE, namely Dubai or Abu Dhabi? Websites, contacts etc?
Thanks :)

It is not possible .. unless you work illegally ...

South Korean law requires at least a BA or BS to acquire the one-year working VISA.

Note: The working VISA is only good for working at one specific school ... not for an entire franchise, province, or area ... only one specific school name ... one specific city, address, etc.

The information provided here is correct. There are changes to the law but when it will all take effect is anybody´s guess. The work visa requirements are annoying and you should have a contract and complete all the required steps BEFORE coming over if you want a legal job ie:security check, health certificate, sealed transcripts from your school University, and your original diploma as the case applies. Or you can come on a tourist visa and look around.... M.

Hi, I spent two years in Abu Dhabi at a different school and had a great time.Dubai sounds cool, but easier, cheaper, and better lifestyle in Abu Dhabi.Good luck.

The only way you can teach in Korea without a degree is if you are currently a university student. Look at the TALK program in South Korea. The salaries are lower than if you have a degree, but if you are currently a student and wish to take a year off and teacher, it´s a way to do it.

The other countries you mentioned require a degree and there is no getting around that, none at all.

I´ve also heard that they´re changing the laws in Korea. I was recently contacted by a recruiter on this website and offered a position. He told me the the Korean MOE has decided to allow people to teach there without a Bachelor´s degree. However, they do require at least a 2 year college diploma or an Undergraduate degree and they want you to have some sort of teaching certificate along with at least 2 years of experience teaching in ASIA. If you have no experience, I would suggest China, Indonesia, Laos, Vietnam or Malaysia in order to get the necessary experience and references before trying Korea. I´ve heard that there´s a huge demand in Vietnam right now. I´ve been in Thailand for the past 2 years, but I wouldn´t really recommend it to anyone, the kids here are the laziest, most unmotivated people that I´ve ever seen in my life. Many of them drop out of school after completing grade 9. Also, the Thai government has implemented a new rule for all new foreign teachers(and some not so new as well), regardless of the qualifications you may have. It´s basically a cash grab for the corrupt officials from the MOE. Now they require EVERY new foreign teacher who comes here to obtain a teaching license for the Kingdom of Thailand, which means you have to attend seminars and workshops in your free time vacation periods and at your own expense to learn about Thai history, culture, language, etiquette, etc., etc. The total cost of this is around $2,000.00 USD and takes about 6 weeks to complete.

I too do not have a degree,´merely´ a nursing diploma and a TESOL qualification.I have applied for several posts, and after going through the procedure each time,am told that I must have a degree.Where possible I have responded by asking them to specify this at the outset.
Thus far I have done voluntary work abroad to get some practice-but this does not pay the rent.Does anyone know of any schools organisations that would accept a native English speaker, reasonably intelligent who would not be in it for the money?
Cheers!
