First of all happy new year. I have done my high studies in languages including French and English and I followed up with by a diploma in Communication and other courses. I have good work experience and currently I working for a French company for 2 years now teaching English to non-native English speakers (students but mostly professionals like managers, lawyers, etc..) via the phone.

I really want to move and teach face to face in an institution. Would the fact that I don´t have a TESOL EFL certificate or the fact that I am in Mauritius cause a problem?

I think so, I know many people of non white status who learned TESOL in Canada who get jobs. Mauritius is a french speaking country correct? You need to be born or resident in an English speaking country to improve your chances. IMHO

Hello Dear,
I think qualification does not matter for this forum rather they are looking only to accomodate the native speakers either they are bus drivers or conductors. I am extremely dejected that the qualified teacher with extra ordinary degrees are being neglected and they even do not bother to respond or take positive steps to accomodate the non native speakers. I think this attitude can cause many ethnic and regional difference or even hatered among the deprived class of non native speakers.
