Hello, Amy. I am completing 2.5 years in Oman. I was with a public College of Applied Sciences for 1 year and a private university for 1.5 years. Be wary of Hawthorn Muscat. There is a legitimate one, and another, using the same name, run by a Jordanian, Abdul Majid Majali. He makes the Queen of Hearts in Wonderland look tame! He has a knack of bringing people to Oman, and then firing them within the three month probation period, with no reason given. One teacher was fired on two hours´ notice, and all his personal possessions confiscated. The situation is being investigated. That said, Oman is a safe and lovely place to be, but outside of Oman nothing happens, so you have LOTS of time to read or write. The people are very friendly, and to a large degree supportive of expatriates. There is, however, an ongoing process of Omanization, which will mean the end of expatriates here. I have been very well treated and respected.
