Hi, I´ve done an on-line TEFL course (100 hours, really good course), but without any teaching practice as part of it. I´m a qualified teacher with a PGCE. I´d love to become better qualified to teach children abroad, and am particularly keen to teach for a year or so in VietNam, but am wondering what course, if any, is the right one. CELTA is clearly highly rated, but is specifically for adults. Any advice gratefully received !

Hi D,

You could consider doing a CETYL, the equivalent of a CELTA but specificall for young learners. You might also consider doing the Canterbury English certificate in Spain. Unlike the CELTA, they address teaching young learners and Business English on the course.

Hi David,

Once you have your ESL teaching degree you are qualified to teach all ages. Vietnam is always looking for teachers. Post your CV on as many sites as you can find and put Vietnam as your first choice. Or look into going to China first, getting some experience and then moving on to Vietnam. English First are a good school and you will teach all ages there. Vietnam, Korea, China these are the easiest countries to start off with......
