Sorry, but a DWI will 5 years ago will be on your record so you will not be given a work permit from Immigration. Depending on what country you come from, you record might be expunged after 7 years

Any country with the mind set of not giving you a visa because of a petty incident, in duo of narrow mindedness does not deserve your efforts anyway. Even the U.S is not that stringent.

You would be better off with Japan, China, Thailand.

South Korea is the only one I´m aware of. Only serious convictions should stop you, not cautions.

Sadly, you might as well forget Korea.. Japan isn´t anal.. Give them a try... Taiwan is also, a good bet... Beleive me you propably not like Korea anyways. I lived there for 5 years before this stupid rule change..

The Koreans are going crazy with the rules and regulations. It is now compulsory for non-nationals to take a drug test at customs upon arrival. Most misdemeanors are not a factor for refusing a visa, but S.Korea, for some reason, is above human.

I recently completed one year of teaching in S.Korea. The reason for the 3 month wait on FBI checks is because of one Canadian teacher whom they later found out killed someone in Canada a while back. Or something along those lines.. that is why the country is going crazy and making everyone go though a background FBI check. I don´t think your DWI should be a problem Mattew.
