I would start with working in the public system - for your first year. The benefits are numerous, including being paid on time, having longer vacation, your nights free, and flight expenses readily refunded. Hogwans or language schools can and will take advantage of you although they do pay better. I would look at EPIK or GEPIK and go through a recruiter. Think about where in Korea you want to work. For example, Busan, where I worked has milder winters and is on the coast so summers are glorious but it is a bit ’small-townish’. Places near Seoul give you all the delights of the capital but with harsher weather conditions. I lived in Ilsan which I can recommend while Bundang is also a cool place to live. Itaewon is where westerners gather on weekends. Good luck!
