Don’t be despondent on this. I am sure you can prevail, and will find a Employer who doesn’t discrimanate. I seriously doubt it is because of your ethnicity, besides If I were a chinese school, I would hire you because you are young, and therefore a lot of young chinese woman will be very interested in you.
There is a book that might help you if it’s Skype interviews that causing problems with your accent.

Hi David Thanks for your support, it means a lot. I just get so angry at times. It’s lowering my esteem. I mean all the other students that done the course with me got a job except me, it’s just not fair.

Hi Michael Thanks for your response, I will definately check that book out.
Sadly the ESL industry does seem full of prejudice and racism. One of the best teachers I have every known is Indian, he found it very hard to gain employment in Thailand, whereas I got offered jobs without even doing a demo class.
I would recommend finding some other people who have also had this experience and see if they will help you get into their schools. It’s what the Filipino teachers have done.
It could also have something to do with your bad attitude? Why isn’t it fair that you haven’t found a job? Maybe the other people who did the course are just better than you? Why do you ’deserve’ a job?
I hear so many cries of ’racism’ from people, it’s starting to get very tiring. In my city there are only 70 foreign teachers: 2 Africans, 3 African Americans, 2 Indian Americans, 2 Mexicans, 2 Russians, a Hungarian, a Belgian, a Japanese American, a Malaysian American - these are the ones I can think of.... But of course, the EFL world is full of racism... even though about 25% of people I have experience with are either non-white or from a non-native speaking country.
Many people have a terrible grasp of the English language, even though they think they are wonderful at speaking and teaching it. I even struggle to understand some ’native’ speakers, so it really could be that your accent is not very clear!
Dear Jamee.
Don't let it discourage you. That racism will always be there. Do not blame your accent. All these poor creatures that cry blue murder, when a "non-native" speaker speaks, forget that many of the so called "native speakers" speak a tongue that even their own countrymen cannot understand.
Let a Liverpudlian (I am deliberately leaving out the "nickname" for them) and a person from Newcastle/Tyne speak.!! and then listen to someone who speaks U RP.
Many people call RP snobbish. So what should one call a Liverpudlian? Forget it. One can hear a lot of the "despicable" Estuary everywhere. It is also a "native tongue"
Even Prof. David Crystal, one of the most famous linguists in the world today, ACCEPTS that there are various types of English and that includes accents. He is, today, by and large, the most famous person when it comes to linguistics. He has an open open opinion about language and linguistics. So, do not worry about a few, who even being literate still prefer to wear the crown in illiteracy.
It is not your shortcoming but the ignorance of a few who choose to wear the crown of intelligence despite their stupidity
Keep your head up
