Details: About Whales English

Whales English is an online school based in China. It is designed for English learners between the
ages of 5 to 15 with 20000 registered students. We have an average of 2-3 students in a class, and
approximately over 10000 different classes with over 1000 native English-speaking teachers. Our
curriculum is based on original American lesson content and we are known to be the toughest
online ESL school in China. With a renewal rate of over 70% throughout all courses we’re also the
most engaging program.

Why Whales English?

---The 3-fixed model:
We will match the most suitable teacher according to the child’s characteristics, forming a fixed
class of one teacher and 2-3 students and a fixed schedule, so parents don’t have to worry about
managing one-time classes and the children form long-last- ing bonds with their teachers. The
teachers can better adjust the curriculum to the children's needs and have meaningful teach- ing
experiences.

---Strict Screening:
Whales English acceptance rate of only 2% underlines the focus on high quality education.
Furthermore a 100% TESOL/TE- FL/CELTA and at least one year of teaching experience are
required.

---American Curriculum:
Our curriculum adopts North American elementary and middle school textbooks and classic extra-
curricular reading materials. The curriculum contains multidisciplinary knowledge and enables the
children to dive into culture as well as develop critical thinking abilities. Today, the main courses
include Language Arts and English reading, other choices include creative writing, science and
social studies to help children comprehensively improve their listening, speaking, reading and
writing abilities.

---The Group Class Model:
The group class model of Whales English gives children the opportunity to bond with and learn
from their peers, while also handing the teacher many more possibilities to utilize teaching tools
such as gamification and reward systems. The Chinese parents are benefitting since this model
offers them a moderate price.
