for either a seasoned teacher or a new teacher starting out. The current owner was over
6 years running a rival academy in Loja but for quality reasons withdrew to set up her
own.
The job is to teach general English courses at our new building in Loja teaching either
children or adults. We also offer Cambridge ESOL courses too such as KET, PET and
FCE.

Loja: 160k inhabitants. Loja is the city of music and culture and one of the friendliest
cities I know. 30 mins away is Vilcabamba and Malacatos. Vilcabamba is a haven for
retirees and foreigners in general. It is called the Village of Long Life, some of its
inhabitants are over 100 years old and its known for its healing springs. There are lots of
museums etc, bars, restaurants. Its not a noisy city though. Not sure if this website is any
good but you could check it out http://.lonelyplanet/ecuador/the-southern-
highlands/loja/things-to-do
Climate: Around 25-30 degrees C. However, being in the mountains it seems hotter. It
can be cool in the mornings/evenings so a jacket, a couple of sweaters are advisable.
Salary is $5 an hour and is paid every 2 weeks. You can cash at any bank here. Most
teachers are on around 5 hours+ a day.
Visa: We suggest you come on a 6 month consulate visa 12-IX
How to get here: You can enter perfectly well on a one way ticket into Ecuador, should
you wish. The Ecuadorians are pretty lax and never really ask questions.
How to get to Ecuador and Loja: From Quito/Guayaquil/Cuenca. As the new airport in
Quito has recently moved its become expensive to trek into Quito city to catch a bus
therefore it is recommeded if possible to fly into Guayaquil or indeed Cuenca. From
Cuenca you can either catch a bus or flight to Catamayo. From Guayaquil it is a bus ride
to Loja.
We can help with accommodation - private room, private bathroom, water, electricity and

English Language Instructor
Ecuador (Quevedo)

Required Degrees: TEFL/TESL, CELTA, DELTA, CertTESOL, DipTESOL
Fields of Expertise: ESL/EFL , ESL to Children , High School , University ,
Details: Dear Sir or Madam:
Quevedo city is located in the province of Los Ríos, in Ecuador, South America. Since it is in the middle of the country, distances to attractive tourist places are shorter. Ecuador has an amazing diversity of landscapes that includes Galápagos Islands, beautiful beaches, the Andes and the Amazon jungle,
Our English Language School is a Cambridge Preparation Center. This means not only that our curriculum is based on Cambridge University Press (CUP) course books, but also that we prepare learners for Cambridge ESOL exams. Being awarded internationally recognized certificates, makes our learners feel accomplished and motivated to continue the process of foreign language acquisition/learning. Most importantly, our instructors are periodically trained by CUP and certified by Cambridge ESOL examinations. Finally, our classrooms have appropriate audiovisual equipment and air conditioning.
We are seeking ESL/EFL teachers who are native speakers (Standard American Pronunciation or Received Pronunciation) with multicultural competencies to work for us for a year. Field trips are included at upper levels of our program to give foreign instructors the opportunity to get to know the country, and for learners to put into practice what they have learned in the classroom.
The minimum wage in Ecuador is US$300.00. The salary offered is average for ESL/EFL teachers for today’s job market and is a very good one for a single person. In addition, Quevedo is one of the cheapest cities in the country.
We are sure that you will enjoy your experience in our school and in our country.
All the best!
