Is it worth getting a TESOL diploma as opposed to just a certificate? We were told if we took the specializatios for teaching TOEFL, Business English etc we could earn more as a tutor in our spare time. Is it worth the time and money to do that or is the basic TESOL sufficient. Most ads I have seem do not seem to differentiate between the diploma or certificate.

FAMILY - were would you suggest is a family friendly place to relocate? I have a MA in Eduation Cultural Studies and am a Texas state certified ESL teacher with 7 years experience. I have studied travelled abroad and have a strong Spanish background. I am married with children ages 3 and 6. My husband and children will be relocating with me, and my husband would also like to seek employment. He has 23 years experience in the electronics engineering industry and 130+ credit hours but no degree. Would he be able to teach? Would I have to have additional certificates? Any advice would be appreciated!

Why is it so difficult to volunteer to teach English?
Every website I have checked want enormous amounts of money!!
Im looking for a volunteer job in Africa Middle East where I pay no money, and in return for my English teaching skills and hard work, I get food and lodging.

I dont want to pay $6000 to live in a mud hut in Malawi writing letters in the mud to get paid a $100 stipend!

Any suggestions?
Its all very frustrating.
Thanks

I was dismissed from Dasman model school after my 60 day trail period. I was not given any written warning. I was notified that I was to leave the country and I was also told that they were not going to repatriate me or give me a flight home, I had to do that on my own. I also had to give up my apartment as well. The contract I signed clearly states that they would pay for a ticket back home. My passport and ID was cancelled and I was forced to move out of my apartment with no place to go. I had to raise the money to get home on.

While I was there I was placed in a classroom with second graders and told to keep them engaged in learning with no books, materals, worksheets or supplies.

First of all happy new year. I have done my high studies in languages including French and English and I followed up with by a diploma in Communication and other courses. I have good work experience and currently I working for a French company for 2 years now teaching English to non-native English speakers (students but mostly professionals like managers, lawyers, etc..) via the phone.

I really want to move and teach face to face in an institution. Would the fact that I don´t have a TESOL EFL certificate or the fact that I am in Mauritius cause a problem?

Thank you for the answer.

Top paying teaching jobs???
-Hello, I´d like to know what the teachers on this site consider a good salary. So, what has everyone been paid or what is considered a great salary. Not hype, just reality.
Thanks for your input.

Hello: I am a 57 year old who is seeking to travel abroad and teach english as second language or Biblical Studies. It appears that most of the ads are seeking those a little younger (smile). Any ideas or leads on how I can pursue this endeavor. I have a BA in accounting and I have completed TEFL course as well as a Masters and Doctorate in Biblical Studies. I am seeking a position for at least a year and I do not have any particular country in mind however I have been researching South Korea and China. Thanks for any responses
I am interested to find a teaching position in Europe. I am a Singaporean with a BA (with education) and billingual in both English and Mandarin. I have been teaching English & Maths to young children.

What European countries would be easier for NON-EU memebers, like me, to find a teaching job?

My race is Chinese, but I grew up speaking English in a English speaking home learning environment. What can I do to stand an equal chance of competing with native English speakers?

Know of any Asians teaching in Europe, or are you one? Care to share your experience?

CP Language Institutes in Madrid Spain-does anyone have any information on this school? I know that they are a part of Collegium Palatinum Heidelberg in Germany, but I was just offered a lovely position at their institute in Madrid. Does anybody know anything about this school? What´s it´s management like, are they organized and involved? Does the school pay on time adhere to the contract? What are the living working conditions like? I´d really appreciate any information anyone has. Thanks alot!

Baltic Tourist Shipping Line
I recently responded to an add placed by this company on another website Without interviewing me or initiating any kind of email communication, they have sent me an appointment letter that informs me I should contact a travel agency in Ghana where the cruise originates and make the travel plans. I am told to report by December 20, 2008 to Ghana. I will then be employed for two years at $4,500 per month. Does anyone know anything about this company? A Google search is not productive. Thanks for any help with this! Phil
