Hello. I am thinking about taking a position in the Republic of Georgia. I’ve done some reading about the country and culture online, but I’d love to here some first-hand experiences if anyone has them to share!

Can anyone enlighten me about their teaching experience(s) in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam? Are there significant differences between government schools versus private schools when hiring new teachers?

Has anyone else experienced or heard of reverse-discrimination when applying for ESL jobs in China?
I’m a Canadian of Chinese descent and have lived in Canada since I was 4. My English is considered to be perfect "Canadian neutral" but I’m having a hard time getting many interviews. One recruiter pretty much told me to my face (over skype) that it’s too bad I wasn’t white.
What can I do? Any tips?

Hi,
I´m really interested in going to korea to teach english, but don´t really know where to start. I have my profile uploaded but not sure what to do after that. I´d like to go to a fairly lively city thats easy to meet and get on with people. Native english speakers would be my preferred choice at the start anyways. Any help would be great.

Teaching English in China is no longer the thrill-seeking, uncharted adventure that it was some 30 to 40 years ago. Today in the second decade of the 21st century and in the aftermath of the 2008 U.S. economic collapse teaching English in China, for young white native speakers of English, is simply a guaranteed, routine, low-paying, low-status, international employment opportunity in what is one of the most challenging countries in the world to live in. The massive EFL industry in China provides more than 100,000 unskilled jobs to Western men and women especially those between the ages of 22 and 55 who, for whatever reasons, can’t find work back home.

Hello, I currently work in Thailand as an English teacher and have been doing so for the past year.
I am a natural teacher and specialize in primary and young adults.
I am under the impression China is now very strict on working visas.
Besides a brilliant C.V, I don´t have a degree (I used one in Thailand and don´t wish to use one for a working visa :(or a teaching certificate.
I am an attractive male with excellent personal relation communication skills
What I do have are references. How do you think the government would view me in relation to getting a work permit?
and or would any school contract me to 1 year, on with a business visa only?
Can you give me your realistic thoughts and or possibilities and experiences please.

Anyone have any suggestions for cities in Korea? I am bouncing all over the place! I am young, single, like to hike, bike, run, swim. I am not a huge drinker but love to socialize. I have thought about Busan but worried it might be too big, and hard to meet people. I thought of Daejeon because its smaller and nearby ski resorts, but I heard it could be boring for younger singer people. Let me know your thoughts!

I want to know what are the prospects of teaching job in south Africa and China. I am a Indian citizen, possessing Science graduation degree and B.Ed. I have an experience teaching science and maths for almost 10 years. Most of the ads clearly state that they are looking for native English speakers.
Will it impact my chances of getting a job abroad?
PLEASE GUIDE ME.

Teaching in Cuba: Hi, does anyone have any insight or information on teaching in Cuba? I´d like to spend about 3 months there and would be happy to work for room and board. Perhaps there is private employment or a volunteer orgaqnization. I will not pay, however, to volunteer.

Teaching in Oman
My name is Opal. I recently recieved a job offer from the a school in Oman.
Has any one ever worked in Oman?
Would I be able to buy food for a month on 1,400 USD per month?
They are offering free health care and housing transportation.
Is the free health care some kind of free government clinic?
What would a single furnished accomodation be like? A one bedroom apartment, or an apartment suitable for a single parent but the two bedrooms.
what would transportation be like?

What is the big deal about airfare upfront? I´ve been offered a job several times, but I don´t have the money for airfare to China. If I had a job that paid me enough to save for airfare to China, I probably wouldn´t be going to China to find a job!

When I respond via email to an international teaching position, I understand a prospective employer asking for my c.v., as well as teaching certificate, diploma, and recommendations, but I have concerns regarding any employer who requests in their job listing a copy of my passport. Has anyone had negative experiences in sending a scanned copy of their passport before they have been offered an employment contract?
